AUDIO AND FILM PROJECTS
Scenario Showreel
Scenario is my podcast that follows photographers as their work is being made. From Clare Hewitt taking landscapes for her penfriend on death row to Jen Balcombe documenting her brother Dev’s journey through their gender transition.
Listen to a Showreel featuring clips from the last three episodes. See track listings below.
The Cottingley Fairies
Track 1 (0:00 – 1:01)
Track 2 (1:03 – 4:34)
Tracks 1 and 2 introduce the story of a photography hoax conducted by two girls, aged nine and sixteen. Their plan was just to fool their parents, but when that didn’t work, they became more tenacious. Their efforts really paid off when they captured the attention of Sherlock-Holmes-author, Arthur Conan Doyle who, not only believed their ruse but, made their photographs of fairies famous.
The Installation (with Jenny Lewis)
Track 3 (4.38 – 8:48)
Track 4 (8:51 – 12:36)
In this episode, Jenny Lewis takes us on a journey to see large installations of her work throughout the London borough of Hackney (some put up with permission, some very much without). And we discover One Hundred Years, a series, of portraits of Hackney residents at every age from birth to 100. The episode gives us a glimpse into their world and shows us how telling their stories emboldened Jenny to exhibit her work no matter what.
The Cinema
Track 5 (12:42 – 14:56)
In this episode we are taken back to France, in 1895, and the moment that cinema is discovered. And from there we meet Alice Guy, the first female film director. The episode uncovers the journey behind her extraordinary career and how her legacy was steadily erased behind her.
