Jessica McDermott is a photographic artist, podcaster, and gallery educator.
I use characters, objects, and overlooked histories to tell a rich tapestry of stories within my portraits and audio projects.
I’m a Gallery Educator at the National Portrait Gallery, was a Photographer on Steve McQueen Year 3 at Tate Brtain (exhibited 2019-2021), and have worked freelance with these arts organisations and others across the UK including A New Direction, Scottish Opera, The Line, and The Photographers’ Gallery.
My work has appeared at Tate Modern, Rich Mix (London) and the Theatre Royal (Glasgow). And I am continuing to develop work that combines photography and audio funded by Arts Council England, and I am interpreting this new work into workshops and projects for young people.
