Jessica McDermott's work experiments with photographic narratives around the theme of legacy. Specifically the people and stories from history (and herstory) that we remember, how we remember them and what gets left behind.
Born in London, she moved to Scotland at 18 and graduated from the Glasgow School of Art. She stayed on Scotland and then yoyo-ed back and forth, working with charities, taking portraits of comedians and making a number of short films, before settling back in London.
The complete first series of her podcast Scenario, which follows hidden stories from behind the camera, came out earlier this year.
She is currently working for Tate on Steve McQueen's Year 3 Project.
